The highly porous structure of HEALOS® allows for cell migration and attachment

HEALOS® is an excellent material for use as a bone void filler in both periodontal and dental implant procedures. 98% porosity and pore interconnectivity allow for collagen surface area for cell attachment and tissue ingrowth.

When soaked in endogenous blood, HEALOS® possesses the biological attributes of autogenous bone graft, thus providing osteoconductive and osteogenic elements that are essential to stimulate new bone formation.

The Benefits of Type I Collagen

Osteoprogenitor cells from blood provide an osteoconducive component

HEALOS® is comprised of 70% collagen, which is the major constituent of bone. The organized structure of native type I collagen serves as a mineralization substrate that provides nucleation sites for calcium phosphate crystal formation, promotes cell attachment, migration, and growth, and modulates the development of cells and tissues as a component of the extracellular matrix.1-3
